Title: Future Direction in River Sedimentation and Morphodynamic Research

River sedimentation and morphodynamic processes are more and more important not only in the areas of river engineering, navigation, water and soil conservation, flood prevention; but also in environmental and ecological protection, river corridor restoration. The need of research has led to the significant advances in research methodologies. This Panel Session is planned to discuss what lies ahead for us to do in order to advance the scientific knowledge of these processes as well as to develop cost-effective techniques to mitigate the contemporary problems and bring greater benefits to the humankind.
